Understanding the Queensland Appliance Rebates for Energy Efficient Appliances

The cost of living is on the rise, and Queenslanders are feeling the pinch. But there is some relief available. The Queensland Government has announced new appliance rebates of up to $650 to help people save money on their energy bills.

The Climate Smart Energy Savers Program is designed to help Queenslanders upgrade to more energy-efficient appliances. These appliances use less energy, which means lower power bills. There are a few different categories of eligible appliances, each with different rebate amounts.

Early Bird List

Here's what you need to know about the Queensland appliance rebates:

• The program starts on September 4, 2023 and continues until the funding runs out.
• There is only one rebate per eligible household.
• Vulnerable or low income Queenslanders will be prioritized.
• Renters will also be prioritized.
• To be eligible for a rebate, you must purchase an eligible appliance (Not all appliances are eligible. Get advice if you are unsure)

Here are the different rebate amounts for eligible appliances from each category:

How to make the most of the rebates:

• Identify your key energy wasters. Which appliances are costing you the most money to run? Start by replacing those.
• Consider water consumption. If you live in an area with water restrictions, you may want to consider appliances with a high WELS rating.
• Be decisive. The funding for this rebate program is limited, so don't wait to upgrade your appliances.
• Beat the rush. Summer is a busy season for appliance sales, so if you want to avoid the crowds, get in early.
